Absence... Return!

Many apologies for my absence in making the 1UP game a week games.
But real life has been a big ball of stress, so much so, I've been getting nosebleeds and in really no mood to code.
Things are finally getting sorted out, and with Ludum Dare around the corner and GameHack UK the week after, I think I'm getting back in the right frame of mind to create some addictive game crack.

So watch this space game number 12 should be coming up real soon.

1up #11 Apeirogon

It's been a hectic time with "real life", Took Dad to hospital, Mum broke her leg, plus a bunch of other stuff. Which meant the two weeks I had off work, to try and catch up and get ahead with 1UP, just didn't really happen.Well here's game number 11 and hopefully number 12 isn't too far behind.

Shoot the incoming baddies, while avoiding them. Blue ones don't die.
Collect green powerups for better fire power and bonus points.

1up #10 Blackbelt T.D.

This one almost didn't happen, half way through I began to hate the game and wanted to scrap it completely. But with a bit of perseverance, I manage to pull it together and get it finished, albeit 8 days late. I've managed to fix the bug in the hiscore code, so hopefully no more crashes when it can't detect the server. I'm gonna spend  my day off tomorrow writing a game in one day to catchup to schedule. Please enjoy and share 1up #10 Blackbelt T.D.

Character based on Tom Dawkins aka Blackbelt T.D.
Graphics by Hannah Clark
Music by Martyn Rozier

Punch and kick the incoming objects. Watch out as they get faster and faster.
Use the double split kick and double crouching punch when surrounded.

Webhost woes. Game crashes.

Many apologies as you may have noticed games 7 and below, now crash when they try to talk to the hiscore server. Since I've changed webhosts, the code for the global hiscores no longer works. I'll be releasing updates to all the games real soon.
Hang in there people.
While you're waiting, feel free to play Lightrider and Penguins Are Mean.

Ginger Invasion

Thursday, 1 March 2012

with a little help.

Hopefully you've downloaded a few of the Asobitech 1up games, played them, maybe made it on to the global hiscore tables. Most of all I hope you have enjoyed playing them, which the main reason I am doing this.
As a videogames coder, there's nothing more satisfying than knowing people are enjoying the games that you create. Making the games is half the fun, watching people play and their reactions is the other. This is why all your comments and feedback mean a lot to me.
Unfortunately for me, this currently isn't my full time job. I code in what spare time I can find, much to the dismay of my girlfriend. But one day, I would love this to become what I do for a living.
I have big plans for Asobitech.
For example in the summer, I want to have a one day live event, Asobifest, where the games will be setup on arcade style cabinets, competitions will be run with prizes to be had. The bands of the people who have created music for the games will play, the graphic artist will be able to display their work. Altogether a day of fun.
But this is all, for now, in the future, until then I'll carry on releasing one game a week, one bite size morsel of joy for you all to play. I just ask, if you like what I'm doing, please donate what you can to help me along with my project. Thank you.

1up #08 Lightrider

It's finally here, 1UP number 08, it's 3 days late, but I think you will like it. Viet has done some awesome work on the pixel art, giving the game a real 16bit feel, and Rob has pulled it out the bag, with creating a perfect tune that fits the game in only one evening.

Graphics by Viet Nguyen and sound by Rob Oliver.

Zoom along the beams of light as you try to escape the exploding star, watch out for the space crates as they get in the way. Try and collect the green pods for bonus points.

The dreaded flu

Apologies for the lateness of game number 8, a busy real life schedule and the flu has made it difficult to work on the game. But I've got graphics and music, thanks to the talented Viet Nguyen and Rob Oliver. I just need to finish putting the game together.
Please bare with me, normal Gaming will be resumed shortly.

Move to Blogspot

I've decided to move the 1UP website part over to Google's blogspot,
this way it should be easier to update and people will be able to leave comments.
It's taken way longer than I would have liked, but it's done now.
Time to try and get this weeks game finished.
